I hope they change it for the film because I hate the book ending. Plutarch would never outright ask Katniss for a BJ like that.

I’d definitely wear my rainbow trunks to the arena.

The world isn’t all sunshine and rainbows sweetheart. If this offends you then I can only imagine what happens when the reality of the world that we live in smacks you in the face.

I am offended at how stupid some people can be. The very idea of the story is to A) illustrate what can happen when a society hands total control over to an entity and B) show that the human spirit can overcome this.

If The Hunger Games was SAW, then yes. I can see this kind of criticism. SAW is cynical torture porn. If it passes itself of as a cautionary tale at any point, I am not aware of it. And I wouldn’t buy it, either. The people who made SAW are bitter assholes who believe people are horrible (and are right about some people).

Collins is a brilliant writer embedding positivity in a bad situation (in no way glorifying said situation, in fact outright anti-glorifying it) as well as cautioning against total dominance by a governing body.

Want/Don’t: Catching Fire
I love 2012’s The Hunger Games. Gary Ross was the right guy for the job of director - the level of care he put into it was ridiculous (don’t agree? Watch the extra stuff on the Blu-Ray). I am nervous due to the change in directors, but at the same time I am optimistic due to Francis Lawrence’s job as director of I Am Legend. Maybe not the best-reviewed movie of all time, but man he got the mood right.

Want: Gary Ross-level care. I don’t know what people think of him, but I admire him a great deal after having watched HG and its extra material. Not often are directors that into creating a masterpiece when it’s not their idea. You actually feel proud of him for being as brazenly into someone else’s work to make a movie that worked that well out of a book, which as we all know is not an easy feat. HG is the best book-to-film I can think of.

Don’t Want: Long flashbacks to first movie, the book is filled with flashbacks and I hope the movies don’t echo this. It’s not in any way that I do not like the flashbacks in the book. They make sense there, it’s a book. That is how a book needs to be. I just worry Francis Lawrence won’t echo Ross’s handling of the bakery (keep it quick, let us know why its there and STOP). It’s not even because I don’t have confidence in FL, I actually do. He just isn’t Gary Ross. That scares me, because he was crazy deep into it.

If “Catching Fire” is one HALF as amazing as this picture of Amanda Plummer snapped on set, smokin’ a Kool, finagling her blackberry, rockin’ a shroom cut and not giving a living fuck… I think we’re all in for a serious treat.

I’m pretty sure the guy in the yellow suit from Gangnam Style is in Catching Fire…

I just read a large amount of people not happy Mockingjay will be split into two parts. It’s seen as a cash grab by more than a few, it seems. Mockingjay is my favorite of the three books and it could be double its length without changing the plot at all. We really could have gotten a lot more of District 13 and scenes like the conversation between Katniss and Snow could have been longer, without even adding dialogue. Internal monologue could go more, everything could be more. It’s a good book for that reason, I want more of it. I want the director’s cut of it, so to speak.

For this reason, I think that its going to be two movies is phenomenal. It is likely that it was done as a cash grab, to be true. One has to remember that any widely-released and promoted movie is a cash grab, though. There are certain people involved with these things that do not see Hunger Games, they see Number Games (If they’d cared if Spider-Man 3 was good, it wouldn’t have existed - but they knew it would make money). But they aren’t the only people involved. Suzanne Collins is an Executive Producer on these things, and based on the first movie and the fact all changes made were tolerable if not positive, I’d say if she thinks it can be 2 movies, it likely can be.

There is no such thing as a book-to-movie adaption that the associated fandom doesn’t ask for more of the book to be included. That is what this is, this is a movie that will get more of the book - maybe even expand upon some things that we’d all like more of. It’s not like LMFAO is going to fly in to give a 20-minute concert while they’re evading traps in the Capitol’s streets.

Do you think Mockingjay is enough for two movies?
